I listened to this through the Read Me Romance podcast. Classic AR which made me happy but no epilogue ( epilogue will be included when the book is released). Great male narrator!
UPDATE** Multiple epilogues in the ebook release which hit the spot. Great look into the future and a perfect wrap up to a great story!
-no cheating
-instalove
-no violence of a sexual nature
-no epilogue - epilogues added in the released version

Cute super sweet little read.
It's Alexa Riley so you know how this goes. Rich experienced man (Lucas) curvy virginal female (Ava) and insta-love.
This a nice cute read as Lucas falls hopelessly in love with Ava his sisters assistant. Ava is everything he's been looking for without him realising it.
It's a quick but nice read. I tend to use Alexa's book as a break after a long series or a heavier book.
Saccharine, diabetes inducing romance with what we have come to expect from AR

-Alpha H
-Insta love
-Sweet, sticky lovemaking
-Mild drama
-Detailed epilogues
I liked the cover for this one, and that they finally released the book. Also the detailed epilogues were pretty darn adorable.
That being said, I miss the TPV days..

A very enjoyable story. I loved it! I couldn't put the book down.
It's about Lucas and Ava.
She the right-hand woman of Rebecca, owner of a lingerie company. He's Rebecca's brother and silent partner. He's one of the most powerful and richest men in the city and he works hard to make sure his sister and his mom are taken care of no matter what.

She has a big crush on him since she saw his picture online a year ago and now he's coming over to the office to look over the models for the next photoshoot of the new lingerie line. One look at her and he knew she's not only the right woman for the job but the right one for him too. Can he convince her that they are meant to be and not just a challenge for him?
I loved the multiple epilogues. (view spoiler)[Married with children. (hide spoiler)]
He's so thoughtful and sweet. He's possessive and overprotective. He's the OTT alpha male I love to read.

Due to Ava, our curvy heroine, having a crush on Lucas for quite some time, it really made this novella work. I was so happy that she landed her man that I forgave Lucas for being a little pushy and a lot alpha.

I just listened to this as part of the Read Me Romance podcast. I must say that I'm not a big fan of the audio books as I don't like how the female voice tries to sound like a man. This audio was no different and the female voice trying to be a man irritated me. However, regardless of how I feel about the audio, the rating is based on the story. This is a short story. Ava and Lucas meet and insta love is on warp speed. One day after he meets her, he knows he loves her and gives her a huge ring. Because it's a short story, there is no opportunity for real character depth or development. What I know is that Ava is self conscious because she is not model thin and has curves and Lucas is the type who always gets what he wants.
Everything just happened too fast for me and I struggled with actually feeling any chemistry.

I make sure to dish these out to myself in small quantities so that I can truly enjoy them when I do pick one up. And this one was timed perfectly. I can really enjoy a novella if the couple has known each other prior to the beginning of the book, but unfortunately that was not the case here so I was left to deal with that disappointment. Still, it is what it is and I always enjoy a strong alpha hero that tends to show jealous possessive moments.
I listened to this on the Read Me Romance Podcast before reading the epilogue in the book, borrowed through Kindle Unlimited.

What's it about?
Ava is a curvy employee at a lingerie company with low self esteem and she's nervous as fuck when Lucas, a well known businessman is coming... because she has a crush on him. Lucas is a busy businessman who's mom keeps telling him he needs to get into a serious relationship with a woman. He makes up a story that he's with someone even though he isn't... but then Ava catches his eye.
Pros:
The story is fun. Not necessarily a masterpiece story that will forever change my life but fun and a nice look outside my comfort zone as I don't really read much romance.
This book is sometimes pretty funny. There's a few parts that are definitely meant to be a tad silly and/or cheesy but in a self aware, humorous way especially in the dialogue (example: in one scene Lucas tells Ava "I'm hungry and you're the only thing I want to eat", I actually had to pause the audiobook I was laughing so hard).
This book is sometimes emotional in a good way that didn't make me wanna cry or anything (I don't like tear-jerkers) but did make me ya know... feel emotions towards the book (and not anger which is the emotion I felt towards the previous 2 audiobooks I listened to).
The narrators did a good job.
Cons:
The characters... I didn't care for them too much. Alright let's just focus on the 2 main characters. Ava isn't a bad character necessarily just sorta bland, nothing made me think she's a good character which unfortunately sorta makes her a bad character because I didn't care about her. Lucas, while he gets better as the book goes on is kinda shitty at the beginning (I mean what kinda douche fingers a girl he just met in a public place and uses blackmail towards the same girl he wants to charm like, he's lucky this isn't a book I wrote, Ava probably would have went demonic sorceress on his ass) so that made me ultimately dislike him even though he (fortunately) becomes less arguably rapey (Ava seems to be uncomfortable yet also likes it... it's weird).
This story is super predictable. I figured out pretty much everything walking into this book despite it not being my usual kinda book, I think that says something.
Mixed thoughts:
The romance and sex stuff, the 2 main things a lot of people will come here (no pun intended) for. So the sexy stuff is indeed sexy as well as being emotional and it didn't feel gratuitous so that's mostly a win... despite the questionable at best behavior I previously mentioned. The romance is cute I guess but I didn't care too much as I wasn't into the characters so that's why it's mixed thoughts.
The ending. It does wrap everything up nicely and is cute but at the same time feels very rushed.
Overall:
Cute but nothing amazing. It is nice to step outside my comfort zone and this is a ton better than the previous 2 audiobooks I suffered through (for those of you who don't know which 2 they are, A Great and Terrible Beauty and Miao Dao... just... fuck those 2 books).
It got me interested in Alexa Riley's work and I do have the next Read Me Romance book lined up as my next audiobook so that's definitely a good sign.
Wouldn't necessarily recommend this book as it is definitely very flawed and not quite my usual thing but it's cute and a fun, short start on my journey to probably explore more romantic books.

I listened to Closer via the Read Me Romance podcast, hosted by Alexa Riley and Tessa Bailey. Before going into my review, I just want to appreciate this podcast for one moment—I love it! One of the first things we find out about the heroine is that she had never even fancied a guy before she saw a picture of the hero online. Um what? Virgin characters don't bother me but don't try to convince me that a woman in her 20s has only ever had a crush on one person (unless they're asexual but that's a whole different ball game!).
Then the first time the hero meets her he looks into her eyes and has a weird thought about being able to tell that she's never had a man before, oh she might have let boys touch her but he's going to be the "cocky bastard who is going to give it to her". Ugh no. Just NO. That isn't hot its cringeworthy and I have zero interest in reading further.
This was my first book by Alexa Riley and it definitely hasn't persuaded me to try more which is a shame.
As far as the audiobook itself goes it was professionally recorded and I thought the narrators were okay but I'm no expert as far as audiobooks go as I tend to get easily distracted while listening to them. I still really love the idea of the Read Me Romance podcast and definitely intend to try the other books that they've recorded but I'm afraid this one just isn't for me.

Oh and he "pops her cherry" in the limo on the way to said date. (hide spoiler)]
The romance (what romance!) didn't do it for me, the overbearing beyond tolerable hero didn't do it for me, the sexy parts did not do it for me.
Just no.
I don't usually give one star ratings, so two stars it is, if for nothing else, then just for the effort of writing the book.
